Magazines are a 4 piece indie band from Dublin, Ireland.
The band is made up of four friends, Cath (vocals/guitar), Tom (bass), Shayne (guitar) and Dan (drums). Magazines originally started off with Cath and Shayne, who met online and bonded over similar musical interests, such as The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, The Japanese House, Turnover, and Wolf Alice. The pair sent music back and forth for a short while, until they found Tom and Dan, who had known each other since they were kids. A couple of days after all meeting for the first time, the four booked a rehersal space and immediately started writing.
Magazines have been fortunate enough to have played some of Ireland’s most prolific music venues such as Whelans, The Button Factory, and The Workmans Club, to name a few. Their newest single “Moonlight” sees Magazines fall on a set sound, having spent the time before it’s release trying to find themselves as a band. Those who have seen Magazines would describe their sound as indie/DIY. Magazines new single “Glitter” will be released summer of 2020. Magazines are very much so a DIY band in the sense they record, mix and produce majority of their tunes, which will be no different for their upcoming single.
